The Way of
KALYRA.
Building a carbon ecosystem through forest restoration, community empowerment, biodiversity conservation, and full transparency — in the Heart of Borneo.
The Landscape
The forests of East Kalimantan form part of one of the most ecologically important regions on Earth. KALYRA seeks to create a pathway where conservation becomes economically viable through long-term carbon finance and sustainable land management.
Forest Restoration
Improving the quality of habitat through ecosystem-based approach and native species replanting.
- Ecosystem-based Approach (EbA)
- Replanting native species
- Rare, Threatened & Endangered tree species
Community Empowerment
Gender mainstreaming at our core. Female-led project team partnering with local communities.
- Gender mainstreaming initiatives
- Healthcare & essential goods
- ~15,000 jobs over 40 years
Biodiversity Conservation
Protecting endangered wildlife species and flagship flora and fauna within the Heart of Borneo.
- Bekantan/Proboscis Monkey
- Orangutan conservation
- Flagship species protection
We work alongside local stakeholders through participation, transparency, respect, FPIC principles, equitable benefit-sharing, and capacity building.
